Credit Counselling

Credit counselling is a solution-focus counselling that specifically looks into an individual’s debt problem.  CCS is unable to talk to the individual’s creditors e.g. a bank, without first having a comprehensive understanding of his financial situation.

CCS obtains the individual's financial details from the credit counselling request form and credit counselling session.

Counselling Appointment

To request for a counseling appointment, the individual must first attend the compulsory Info Talk on debt management and submit his counselling request package.

Content of Counselling Session

The objective of the counselling session is to assist the individual to better understand his financial position, his monthly cashflow (i.e. income and expenses), and to identify possible solution(s) that he can explore and/or adopt to resolve his debt problem.

Duration of Counselling Session

A credit counselling session may take up to two or more hours.  Normally, an individual requires only one session.  However, if necessary, the individual may be requested to attend more than one credit counselling session.

Counselling Hours
  • Counselling appointments are scheduled during CCS operating hours:

Monday – Friday, 9 am – 6 pm (excluding public holidays)

  • People with special needs may request for an after-office-hour appointment to take place from Monday – Thursday (excluding public holidays). The latest evening appointment will start at 7 pm.

Counselling Fee

The cost for credit counselling is $30. This is a one-time fee.

Referral Service

CCS offers referral services to the other help agencies as needed by the individual for his other issues, eg. mental stress, relationship problem and gambling addiction. This is subject to the individual's consent and also the approval of CCS management to make the referral.

CCS will write to the relevant help agency about the individual’s case. However, it is up to the individual to follow-up with the help agency to seek the necessary assistance.
